Steven Soderbergh wants Catherine Zeta-Jones to star in his next project — a rock and roll musical about Cleopatra.

Soderbergh is looking for financing and distribution for Cleo, which would be his first musical. Greg Jacobs and Casey Silver have signed on to produce the film.

Zeta-Jones and Hugh Jackman are in talks to play the title character and her lover, Marc Antony. Soderbergh and Zeta-Jones, whose musical debut was in 2002's Chicago, first worked together on the Oscar-winning drug drama, Traffic.

Music for the film has already been written by Guided by Voices, a now-defunct indie rock band. The script was written by James Greer, a former bassist for the band.

The movie will cost an estimated $30 million to make.

Soderbergh, who also directed the Ocean's Eleven franchise, is set release his latest film Che, about Argentinian revolutionary Che Guevara, next January.
