Owen Wilson appealed for privacy on Monday after being rushed to a Los Angeles hospital over the weekend in what police logged as a suicide bid.

According to a police log of weekend calls obtained by CelebTV.com on Tuesday, the reason given for the 911 call from Wilson's residence is listed as "attempt suicide."

The 38-year-old actor released a statement Monday afternoon through his publicist, Ina Treciokas, saying "I respectfully ask that the media allow me to receive care and heal in private during this difficult time."

No further comments were expected, Treciokas said.

Authorities reported only that the popular comedic actor was in good condition.

A spokeswoman for Cedars-Sinai Medical Center said earlier Monday that the Wedding Crashers and The Royal Tenenbaums star was at the Los Angeles hospital, but did not disclose the medical reason.

Paramedics had initially rushed Wilson to St. John's Health Centre in Santa Monica, the spokeswoman said.

A police car, fire truck and ambulance were dispatched to Wilson's gated Santa Monica house during the noon hour Sunday, according to Geoffry White, who lives across the street from Wilson.

"These guys were kind of taking their time taking a stretcher out of the ambulance, then they went into the house," White said.

In addition to starring in comedies, including Zoolander, Shanghai Noon, Starsky & Hutch, Meet the Parents and The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, Wilson has worked behind the camera as a producer and writer, regularly collaborating with filmmaker Wes Anderson and actor Ben Stiller.

Wilson's two brothers, Andrew and Luke, are also actors.
