A DNA test has proved that comedian Eddie Murphy is the father of former Spice Girl Melanie Brown's baby.

Brown's publicity representative, Liza Anderson, said the singer received the test results Thursday.

A judge ordered Murphy to take a DNA test earlier this month to determine if he fathered Angel Iris, born April 3.

Murphy had split with Brown, formerly known as Scary Spice, during her pregnancy.

The comedian and star of Dreamgirls said he would "do the right thing" if the child were his.

Meanwhile, the Spice Girls, who formed in 1994 and became a global hit before splitting in 2001, plan an announcement on Sept. 28 about their "future."

Rumours of a Spice Girls reunion have been circulating for weeks, with Melanie Chisholm recently admitting on BBC Radio, "We've been discussing it and it could possibly happen."

The other Spice Girls and their nicknames are: Victoria Beckham (Posh), Melanie Chisholm (Sporty), Geri Halliwell (Ginger) andEmma Bunton (Baby).
