Canadian hip hop pioneer Maestro, indie rock troupe Hey Rosetta!, Polaris Prize-winning throat singer Tanya Tagaq and folk rock duo Whitehorse are among the top acts taking the stage at the 2016 CBCMusic.ca Festival.
Organizers of the annual live music showcase announced a partial list of performers slated to play this year's edition, which takes place at Toronto's Echo Beach on May 28.
Other artists on the bill include:
- Soul and R&B singer-songwriter Zaki Ibrahim
- Indie pop-folk group The Franklin Electric
- CBC host and alt-hip hop artist Rich Terfry
- Singer-songwriter Charlotte Cardin
- The winner of the 2016 CBC Music Searchlight competition
Additional acts will be announced in the coming weeks.
Advance tickets go on sale Friday at CBCMusic.ca/festival. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Saturday through Ticketmaster.
In addition to the musical performances, the all-ages event will also include a craft and flea market, an expanded food truck fair and a Kids' CBC area offering family-friendly activities and entertainment.
Since its inaugural edition in 2013, the CBCMusic.ca Festival has celebrated Canadian recording artists each spring with an outdoor concert event in Toronto or Vancouver.
