Simon Monjack, the 39-year-old widower of the late American actress Brittany Murphy, has died.
His death comes five months after his wife died from pneumonia.
The Los Angeles Times reported that firefighters responded to an emergency telephone call on Sunday evening for an "unspecified medical request," and found the British screenwriter and director dead in his Hollywood home.
Los Angeles police said Monjack appears to have died of natural causes although the exact cause of his death is still unknown. He had complained of cardiac problems.
"We concluded there were no signs of foul play or any criminal activity involved," Sgt. Alex Ortiz told The Associated Press.
Murphy, 32, died in December of pneumonia, complicated by an iron deficiency, anemia and cold medications. The couple married in 2007.
At his wife's funeral, a visibly distraught Monjack called her his best friend and soulmate. He said they had been planning to start a family.
Monjack wrote the original story for the 2006 film Factory Girl and co-wrote and directed the 2001 film Two Days Nine Lives.
