Randy Bachman, seen at right with bandmate Fred Turner in 2009, will publish a book of stories from his Vinyl Tap CBC radio show in fall 2011. (John Woods/Canadian Press )The stories Randy Bachman shares with his Vinyl Tap radio listeners will get a whole new audience this fall, when the Canadian rocker publishes a book based on his popular CBC Radio show.
Penguin has announced plans to publish Randy Bachman's Vinyl Tap Stories in fall 2011.
On his weekly show, Bachman spins a curated lineup of tracks and also serves as storyteller. He entertains listeners with personal tales, describes interesting encounters or shares quirky tidbits about the songs or artists he plays — all gleaned from his decades-long career in music.
"After thousands of fan requests for the stories behind the songs, I'm thrilled to be able to put out this book," the Manitoba-born, B.C.-based Bachman said in a statement.
"These are some of my favourite personal stories and they make the songs much more real and precious."
Bachman, who co-founded The Guess Who and Bachman-Turner Overdrive, will also be inducted along with Fred Turner into the Canadian Music and Broadcast Industry Hall of Fame during Canadian Music Week in March.
