A memoir by Karl Rove, the top White House aide who was architect of former president George W. Bush's political campaigns and his war on terror, now has a title and a release date.

Courage and Consequence will be published March 9, 2010.

It is being released by Threshold Editions, a conservative imprint of Simon & Schuster that also plans to release former vice-president Dick Cheney's memoir.

Rove designed the political campaigns that earned Bush two terms as president, and was a top adviser on issues including the Iraq war and domestic policy.

Rove said in a statement that his book will provide "a frank account of what I witnessed and my often-controversial role."

He is also expected to outline his conservative political philosophy and explain how he made decisions during the presidential campaigns and in the White House.

Rove, who has known Bush for more than 30 years, was senior adviser to the president from 2001 to 2007, a period that featured the U.S. entry into Iraq and the so-called war on terror. He has been linked to ruthless political tricks, including sinking John Kerry's presidential campaign, exposing Valerie Plame as a CIA agent and firing U.S. federal attorneys.

Bush and his wife, Laura, are also expected to release memoirs in 2010.
