Former U.S. vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin, seen speaking in Hong Kong last week, has completed her memoir. Going Rogue: An American Life will be released in November. (Jeff Topping/CLSA Asia-Pacific Markets/Associated Press)Sarah Palin has kept busy since giving up the Alaskan governor's seat this summer — she has finished writing her memoir and the release date has been bumped up to November.
The 45-year-old Palin, the 2008 Republican vice-presidential candidate, announced in mid-May that she would publish her autobiography, with the release set for spring 2010.
Harper, an imprint of HarperCollins, now says Palin's 400-page memoir Going Rogue: An American Life will hit stores on Nov. 17. The former governor completed the manuscript with collaborator Lynn Vincent.
"Gov. Palin has been unbelievably conscientious and hands-on at every stage, investing herself deeply and passionately in this project," said Harper publisher Jonathan Burnham. "It's her words, her life, and it's all there in full and fascinating detail."
The fall is "the best possible time for a major book of this kind," Burnham said.
The publisher has planned a large first printing of 1.5 million copies — similar to that of the late Senator Ted Kennedy's recent book True Compass.
Similar to that of Kennedy's, Palin's book will be released only in hardcover at first, with the e-book to follow in late December.
"We want to maximize hardcover sales over the holidays," Harper spokeswoman Tina Andreadis said Monday.
Palin announced her resignation as governor of Alaska in early July and left office later that month. She has been touted as a possible choice for the 2012 Republican presidential candidacy.
