Gov. Sarah Palin, seen here near Wasilla, Alaska, in November, says her forthcoming memoir is a chance to tell her side of the story. (KARE-TV/Associated Press) Former U.S. vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin has signed a deal to publish her memoir — set for release in just one year's time.
The Alaska governor has agreed to publish an as-yet-untitled autobiography with HarperCollins, with the release date set for spring 2010, the same year she is up for re-election as governor.
"There's been so much written about and spoken about in the mainstream media and in the anonymous blogosphere world, that this will be a wonderful, refreshing chance for me to get to tell my story, that a lot of people have asked about, unfiltered," Palin said in a brief telephone interview with The Associated Press.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The book will recount tales from the conservative Palin's personal and professional life, including her Alaskan upbringing, her rise to the international stage as the Republican Party's vice-presidential candidate in 2008 and controversial issues like her teenage daughter's pregnancy.
"In fairness to my family, this is going be a good opportunity for them, too, because there have been so many misperceptions out there about who we are and what we believe in, and I'm excited to get to put my journalism degree to work and tell my story as it relates to my family," said the 45-year-old politician, who graduated from the University of Idaho in 1987.
According to her literary agent, Washington attorney Robert Barnett, whose clients also include U.S. President Barack Obama as well as former presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton, Palin has not yet started writing but has formed an outline for the memoir in her mind.
Palin will work with a collaborator, yet to be determined, but "every word of the book will be her words," Barnett said.
Palin's book deal falls outside of the Alaskan act prohibiting the governor from having outside employment, as long as it does not interfere with her official responsibilities and she doesn't employ state resources while writing.

FILM REVIEW: Men in Black 3 by Eli Glasner May. 25, 2012 11:40 AM Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones are back in the action sequel Men in Black 3, a third instalment of a series now 15 years old. Though new addition Josh Brolin manages some amazing mimicry as a younger version of Jones, the story doesn't measure up to the weird and wonderful charms of the original, says film reviewer Eli Glasner.
