A bronze life-size statue of a woman stolen from Queen Elizabeth Park in Vancouver in June has been found abandoned in a field in Aldergrove, B.C., police said Wednesday.

Other items stolen from the park overnight on June 19, including two bronze plaques, have also been recovered, Vancouver police spokeswoman Const. Jana McGuinness said.

McGuinness didn't reveal how police knew where the stolen items were or how long they lay abandoned in the field — only that the investigation involved Vancouver police and RCMP from Surrey and Langley detachments.

The statue is part of an art piece called Photo Session, which shows a photographer taking a picture of three people. The value of the art is more than $5,000, police said.

McGuinness said investigators have not made any arrests or laid any charges in the case.

Police released a surveillance video in July showing a woman trying to sell one of the stolen bronze plaques in Vancouver.

Investigators have spoken to the woman, who has not been identified, but "she's not facing any charges," McGuinness said.

"She's been interviewed but at this point she has not been charged in this investigation," McGuinness said. "At this point no one is under arrest for this theft."

Bill Manning, a spokesman for Queen Elizabeth Park, said security was increased in the park after the theft but no modifications had been made to how the remaining statues are attached to the ground.

"Once we get the material back, we'll be seriously looking at how they were originally attached as well as looking at other options to make them as secure as possible," Manning said.
