The Tories tried to portray Shawn Graham as not being ready for the job of premier. The voters clearly didn't buy it. I'd welcome your comments on what this says about the PC strategy.

The Tories conveniently forgot that Bernard Lord, at the time he was initially elected, had less political experience than Shawn Graham. Their strategy of saying Graham wasn't ready didn't resonate with voters for this reason. I think the Liberal strategy that worked best was to portray Shawn Graham as a regular guy.
The PC election strategy, overall, lacked in comparison to past PC election strategies. It may as well have said "mediocre is OK for us". The numbers prove different. While the nation's economy has been booming, NB's has been stagnant. Why?
New Brunswick is ripe for another so-called "McKenna Miracle". Whether Shawn Graham can deliver is yet to be seen, but it's already been proven that Lord can't.
