Several Conservatives who posted comments to this blog predicted that Shawn Graham would lose his seat in Kent. He didn't, but it must be acknowledged he was in a relatively close race for a leader in one of his own party's strongholds.
With a few polls left to report, Graham's ahead, 3,340 votes to 2,989, or 51.2 per cent to 45.8 per cent. It's a comfortable win, but not the overwhelming victory one might expect.

I think Shawn did very well considering he had to spend so much time away from his riding and the Times-Transcript was so one sided in this election. This newspaper had a significant effect on this election. Stronghold concepts will soon be a thing of the past as there is little party loyalty in younger generations. All in all, a very good showing by Shawn against perhaps the first really solid alternative choice offered to Kent in years.

Unfortunately the citizens of Kent County will have to rally again. Here comes Shawn and the Jewett Agribusiness boys! But we are ready for round two!
