This riding consists of: Deer Island, Campobello Island, Grand Manan Island, White Head Island; Wood Island; Wolves Islands.

Includes village of Grand Manan as well as Grand Manan, Campobello and West Isles parishes.

Fishing is a major industry in riding.

The riding was created in the 1995 redistribution from:

Charlotte Centre - Deer Island - approx. 700 voters.

Charlotte Fundy - Grand Manan - approx. 1800 voters.

Charlotte West - Campobello - 900 voters.

Political History:

  • CHARLOTTE FUNDY - New riding in 1974

  • PC JAMES TUCKER was first elected in Charlotte in Dec 11/72 by-election.

  • PC TUCKER won here in 1974 and 1978.

  • TUCKER appointed Speaker, March 24/81.

  • In 1982, PC TUCKER defeated LIB ERIC ALLABY by 1,019 votes.

  • TUCKER reappointed Speaker, April 15/83; appointed Min of Fisheries, Oct 3/85.

  • In 1987, LIB ERIC ALLABY, ran again and this time defeated PC TUCKER by 1,135 votes.

  • In 1991, LIB ALLABY defeated COR's KEITH GUPTILL by 993 votes.

  • FUNDY ISLES

  • In 1995, LIB ERIC ALLABY, MLA from Charlotte Fundy, defeated PC BOB JACKSON by 90 votes.

  • In 1999, LIB ERIC ALLABY defeated PC ED BRINE by 56 votes.
