Rovers Return With Christmas Tour

There aren't many groups in Canada that can match the legacy of The Irish Rovers. TV stars, huge concerts draws, and three major memorable hits: The Unicorn, Wasn't That A Party, and the annual Christmas favourite, Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer. Plus, you have the longetivity. This is the group's 45th year together. And their popularity continues. They are on a national tour, have a brand new Christmas CD, and a TV special filmed in Ireland coming up.

However, tours are getting tough for the group. There are hints from band founder George Millar that they may not be able to come out on the road much anymore, given the age of some members. So a series of shows in the Maritimes may be the last the group comes to some communities. What better time to see them then, on this special holiday tour. It's actually wrapping up in New Brunswick, with three shows in the province this week.

The new album is called Merry Merry Time Of Year, and its prompted this special tour. It's called An Irish Rovers Christmas, of course, and is happening tonight (Tuesday, Dec. 13) in Miramichi in Miramichi at the James M. Hill theatre at 7:30. After dates the rest of the week in Nova Scotia and PEI, the group returns Saturday night to Sackville, playing Convocation Hall at 7:30. Then the tour wraps up in Saint John at the Imperial Theatre Sunday night.
