Wild Canada showcases the country’s incredible wildlife and landscapes, but it also take a look at how it got this way, delving into the continent’s geological, ecological and human history.
That has presented us with a challenge- how do we show landscapes of the past? In particular, how do we represent the Ice Age? Luckily for us, Whistler Mountain provided a convenient location for getting our actors close to glaciers. Here we could depict the migration of the first people arriving in Canada from Eurasia during the last Ice Age - no green screen required!
Access to our ‘glaciers’ was facilitated by a speedy gondola ride up the mountain.
Tourists on our filming day got more than they bargained for when some first peoples showed up!
