Sean Rice and Patrick Cashin
Shortly after his appointment to the second clarinet chair of the National Arts Centre Orchestra, CBC records Sean Rice in partnership with pianist Patrick Cashin at their recent recital at the DF Cook Hall called "Songs Without Words." Now in their late twenties, Sean and Patrick have been playing music together since they were 10 and 11 years old respectively and this performance reunites them in music that capitalizes on the clarinet's lyrical qualities as well as one of the great staples of the clarinet repertoire - Brahm's Sonata No. 2 in E Flat Major.
