DAVID VIRELLES QUINTET

2006 winners of the Grand Prix de Jazz at the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal. 22 year-old virtuoso jazz pianist David Virelles, winner of the first Oscar Peterson Prize, introduces his new Quintet, making its CBC Radio and Glenn Gould Studio début.

Incorporating traditions from Africa, Cuba, Brazil and the States, the band's goal is to play original and creative music within the vocabulary of jazz and improvised music, together with elements of European classical music.
