Historical Note
The Graham Spry Theatre was established in honour of one of Canada's most faithful and influential advocates of public broadcasting. Graham Spry and Alan Plaunt, two young enthusiastic lobbyists, co-founded the Radio League of Canada. Together they were the driving force leading to the establishment of a national public broadcaster in 1932 by the Canadian Parliament. Initially known as the Canadian Radio Broadcasting Commission (CRBC), the name changed to the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) in 1936.
