Waiting for Care - Brooklyn Ruecker's Story

"We need... a way that's not so exhausting."

Mona Ruecker has an 18 year-old daughter named Brooklyn. According to her mother she's tall and beautiful. She also has an intellectual disability, and her mother says she functions at a level similar to a child of about 18 months.
She says the Saskatchewan system for placing Brooklyn in a group home was pretty complicated, and that it's difficult to know how it works for other families. While she's happy Brooklyn's needs are getting met, she explains her confusion around the process-- and what's happening for other parents and caregivers.
