The Team: Marivel Taruc
Marivel Taruc returns as the business anchor of CBC News: Morning.
She has interviewed top newsmakers of the day, including federal cabinet ministers and provincial political leaders. She travelled to Newfoundland and Labrador ahead of the province's election to report on the oil-boom and how it's transforming the province.
In her years as a financial and economics reporter, Marivel covered such stories as the aftermath of the World Trade Centre attacks on the global economy, the Enron and Worldcom corporate greed scandals and the unprecedented rise of the Canadian dollar.
Marivel began her career as a news reporter in her hometown of Winnipeg. While working at CBC Manitoba, she covered major events including 1997's "Flood of the Century" and various federal, provincial and municipal elections.
Marivel graduated from Ryerson University with a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism. She lives in Toronto with her family.
