"A Play: Uphill Both Ways"
A play by students, about students, for students and features
a series of vignettes that each deal with an issue of importance
to people of that age group. There is a piece about racism,
about how technology has changed in their lives (Facebook,
cell phones, iPods, etc.), about first sexual encounters,
language (distinctly Montreal), body image, politics, student
activism. It's a real snapshot of where that age group is
today. A real eye-opener about the things that are important
to them.
This event was hosted by CBC Radio One's Ann
Lang. Listen

"Depression and Awareness Day"
Students helping students: Third year students from the Special
Care Counselling Program will host a booth where students
can get information on depression, be screened for depression
and anxiety, and meet with counsellors from the Counselling
Centre. Depression still has an important stigma attached
to it, yet it is a serious problem among students whose grades,
performance, and life can be affected by depression and despondency.
Depression Awareness Day is aimed at reducing the stigma attached
to emotional illness and informing students about where to
get help.
Time:
Tuesday, October 7th, 10:00am-2:00pm.
Location:
Vanier College, Carrefour and Student Mall.
821 avenue Sainte-Croix
Saint-Laurent, QC H4L 3X6.
