a role in Montreal Matters. Our portal ultimately reflected
Montrealers' views and concerns. The website's goals were
to engage people in discussions of HOME through interactive
features like Home Tales, a Community Forum and CBC Livewire.

McGill
attracts top students from over 150 countries, creating
one of the most dynamic and diverse student bodies in North
America. Within Homecoming month, McGill was pleased to offer
the following activities: the McGill Bookstore offered a discount
on books on home, three seperate Exhibitions highlighted the
theme of home, from the Maxwell Mansions, McGill architects
John Bland, John Schreiber and Norbert Shoenauer to the notion
of Homecoming, with the story of Montrealer Max Stein. McGill
also offered two public lectures, one on Home Territories,
where intersect the self, the neighbourhood and the city and
another on the safety of the modern Home.

Concordia
is a large, urban university where students and graduates
play an important role in Montreal's economic and cultural
development. The University organized a panel discussion that
followed the film screening of "Au Chic Resto Pop",
within the National Film Board's Montreal Matters programming
on issues surrounding Home. Concordia also presented a forum
on leaving home to study/attend university.

The
FGM hosted a breakfast-conference on the
theme of poverty, home and youth. The speakers looked at the
situation of poverty in Montreal, the effect of poverty on
the home, parental skills, and child development ; poverty
as a major indicator for behavioural problems in youth, and
finally, effective interventions at a community level.

Celebrating
its 10th anniversary, Hour is Montreal’s
premiere Anglo cultural weekly, with nearly 150,000 readers.
During the Montreal Matters initiative, Hour featured weekly
coverage relating to the topic of Home, with several reports
done in tandem with CBC Radio and CBC Television.

Since
its inception in 1939, the National Film Board of
Canada (NFB) has established a tradition of cinematographic
excellence appreciated by Canadians and audiences around the
world. The National Film Board partnered up with Montreal
Matters
to offer five film screenings held in the month of October
at the CineRobotheque, McGill University and Concordia University.

Located
in the heart of downtown Montreal, the McCord Museum
offers time travellers of all ages a diverse and enriching
museum experience. The McCord offered Walking Tours which
revealed Montreal's Scottish heritage through the city's historic
architecture.

L’Autre
Montréal, a non-profit educational group,
was created in 1983 to get Montrealers involved in conversations
on urban issues. As part of Montreal Matters, they offered
three tours: a boat tour on the Lachine Canal; a bus tour
through central Montreal neighbourhoods; and a bus and walking
tour through Park Extension.

The
Conseil des métiers d'art du Québec
(CMA), an umbrella organisation for professional
artisans and associate members, offers numerous services to
artists and artisans including career assistance, promotional
support and additional training. The CMA presented two exhibitions
which highlighted the value of craft and art objects in the
home.

Habitat
for Humanity is about changing people’s lives!
They are a nonprofit organization dedicated to eliminating
substandard housing and homelessness worldwide and to making
adequate, affordable shelter a matter of conscience and action.
Habitat invites people from all walks of life to work together
in partnership, building houses with families in need.

Montreal’s
network of 57 Montreal Municipal Libraries open
up a world of knowledge, information and reading pleasure
for young and old alike. Montreal Matters events included
book displays (full month) and a bibliography on the theme
"Healthy home, healthy family", an India Tea Party
and "A Tapestry of Tales", where Canadian storytellers
and a special guest offered a memorable evening of shared
stories (Beaconsfield). Also, there was a conference on heritage
in Pointe Claire.

Quebec Writers' Federation (QWF) was created
in 1998 to promote and encourage literary arts and to represent
the interests of English language writers living in Quebec.
The QWF compiled selected titles about “HOME”
from Quebec authors.

featuring Quebec authors written works about Home in Montreal.
