Routes_Montreal is back with a
brand new lineup of great Canadian singer / songwriters. Each
month Routes presents local Montreal and nationally known performers
in an intimate studio setting. The host for the next three Routes
shows is Antoine Gratton. Antoine is a 23 year old Montreal singer/songwriter
who has just put out his first CD called Montreal Motel. He is
equally at home in English or French with influences ranging from
American R&B to British pop to Quebecois folk.
The Routes_Montreal show on Thursday October 23
featured Terry Tufts and Coral Egan
at Studio 12, CBC Building at 7:30 PM.
Terry Tufts was born in Gasline,
Ontario (near Port Colborne), grew up in Denver Colorado, Ottawa
Ontario, Rome Italy, the Toronto area, and Fredericton New Brunswick.
His songwriting and performing talents have carried him to such
places as Australia, Austria, Finland and Sweden. He has been
employed in the studio for his extraordinary abilities on all
forms of guitars - and has performed with Tom Paxton, George Fox,
Susan Aglukark, Laura Smith and many others.
Coral Egan sings beautifully!
Her first record with Justin Time was a collection of jazz standards
- but her original music is influenced by soul, reggae, pop and
jazz, creating a unique hybrid style. There are bittersweet accents
in her lyrics, a certain solemnity, but also a healthy dose of
humour. A discovery for our Routes audience.
