TIMELINE | Guy Turcotte's legal saga

Key dates in the legal saga of the Quebec cardiologist

Last Updated: January 10, 2014

The Quebec Court of Appeal has overturned the verdict of Guy Turcotte in the killing of his two children, Olivier and Anne-Sophie Turcotte, ages 5 and 3 at the time. They were found stabbed to death in February 2009 at his home in the Laurentians. Turcotte was charged with first-degree murder. At his trial, Turcotte admitted to killing his son and daughter. A jury eventually decided he was not criminally responsible based on evidence that claimed Turcotte was not mentally sound at the time of the killings. Now, the appeals court says Turcotte will have to be tried again.
