July 9 -- Indie Folk and Quebec Trad with Breabach and Le Vent du Nord
Music unites the world in this concert which combines the might of Breabach and Le Vent du Nord. This concert explores the affinities between Scottish and Quebecois music, showcasing the similarities and differences between their repertoires and styles.
July 16 - Latin Sounds
Part 1: Roberto Lopez
Composer and guitarist Roberto Lopez takes you on a musical journey as he revisits a series of Colombian classics and performs some of his own most recent compositions.
Part 2: Rommel Ribeiro
Brazilian-born young musician Rômmel Ribeiro combines Brazilian music, Afro, reggae,jazz, funk, and hip-hop.
July 23 -- Highlights from the 2010 Festival Nuits D'afrique
Part 1: Chiwoniso
Zimbabwean performer Chiwoniso Maraire says he sings about what he sees happening in his country. He rocks the house with a band populated by a mix of Haitians, Americans and Europeans.
Part 2: Habana Café
Three Cubans, one Dominican and five Québécois joined to form a traditional Cuban music group that delivers lively melodies and muscular Latin rhythms.
July 30 -- New Montreal Singer- Songwriters
Part 1: Melissa Laveaux
Melissa Laveaux was born in Montreal to a Haitian family. Her throaty vocals and percussive guitar-playing comes from a deep and intimate knowledge of the global musical milieu. It's a bilingual raw mix of acoustic soul/jazz and percussive Haitian folklore.
Part 2: Ian Kelly
Montreal singer-songwriter Ian Kelly presents songs that are loaded with messages reflecting the pre-occupations of a sensitive and intelligent young man of 30: love, war and the environment.
August 6 -- Montreal Emerging Indie Artists
Part 1: The Barr Brothers with Elizabeth Powell
The Barr Brothers, Brad and Andrew, are the core of the well-respected Boston rock outfit The Slip, but over the past few years they've become a part of Montreal musical community.
Part 2: Leif Vollebekk
Leif Vollebekk's self-produced CD "Inland" was recorded at Montreal's Breakglass Studios earlier this year, linking him to a variety of great Montreal bands like Wolf Parade, Besnard Lakes Patrick Watson. This recording features re-workings of songs from that album,and well as some new work and covers of some folk classics.
August 20 -- Martha Wainwright Sings Piaf
Martha Wainwright tackles the 'oeuvre' of France's legendary femme fatale Edith Piaf. Wainwright's attachment to 'la chanson française' lifted what might have been a merely interesting vanity project to a deeply moving tribute filled with loving respect. In this concert recorded during the Mondial Choral Festival in Laval, Quebec, Martha was joined by her New York based band and by a choir made up of members from La Boheme and Le Collège Vocal.
