Little Beaver

"When Was The Last Time", is the title of an album that was originally released in 1976 by an obscure soul singer by the name of Little Beaver. The album was just reissued and our music columnist Errol Nazareth says it's "all-killer-no-filler".

Fatoumata Diawara

Fatoumata Diawara, a singer and guitarist from Mali, has been called the most beguiling talent to hit the world music scene in some time. Our music columnist Errol Nazareth says Diawara's debut album, "Fatou", features her powerful voice accompanied by a folksy sound that is a blend of African, jazz, blues and pop. She has thrown her support behind a very cool organization called "Half The Sky Movement" External Site. It was inspired by the best-selling book, "Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide", which is now also a documentary that will be aired on PBS, on October 1 and 2 External Site.

Unusual Band Name

The Malawi Mouse Boys is a group of eight young men from a poor village in Malawi who were discovered by a Grammy Award-winning producer. "He is #1" is their first album and our music columnist Errol Nazareth reviewed it this morning.
