Your Special Canada

About the Show

YOUR SPECIAL CANADA, STARRING JONATHAN TORRENS is a hilarious and heartwarming hour of TV, in which Torrens returns to his birthplace of Charlottetown to mark Canada’s 150th in the place where it was born, too!

Spurred on by a jaded Sir. John A re-enactor who claims to have “seen it all” when it comes to Canada Day specials, Jonathan’s tribute to our uniquely Canadian spirit will feature everything from an “Ice-tacular” Zamboni race to the World’s oldest drag queen. We’ll check in with ‘Slappy the Trivia Beaver’, a food-flinging keeper of questionable Can-con, and in “Canada Calling”, Jonathan will ply unsuspecting Canadians with ridiculous market research questions to see if he can keep them on the line.

On the “sweeter” side, Jonathan honours Canada’s tastiest export with a visit to the “Fort Knox of maple syrup”, the world’s largest reserve of “liquid gold”, in the maple belt of Quebec. Then continues onward and upward when he delivers some Canada Day warmth (not to mention some sweet “sirop d’erable”) to the men and women stationed at the northern most point on earth, at Canadian Forces Station Alert, Nunavut.

Like a free injection (thanks Medicare!) of patriotic pride, YOUR SPECIAL CANADA is sweet, silly, and spectacular, as daring and diverse as the country itself.
