The Neddeaus of Duqesne Island

About the Show

CBC celebrates Canada’s history of documentary filmmaking with THE NEDDEAUS OF DUQESNE ISLAND (10x6-8mins), produced by Floyder Films and Duqesne Island Productions, a 1970s documentary homage about a peculiar family that has lived isolated on an island in northern Ontario for more than a hundred years.

Released online for Canada’s sesquicentennial, THE NEDDEAUS OF DUQESNE ISLAND is a never-before-seen portrait of a bizarre self-exiled family and the strange rituals that make up their off-the-grid existence, told through the eyes of teenage son Elmer Neddeau as he comes of age and begins dreaming of the mainland.
