Road to the Olympic Games

About the Show

CBC Sports recognizes the power of sport to unite a nation, which is never more evident than when Canadians are cheering for an athlete or team wearing the maple leaf. It is this shared experience that the network aims to recreate each week through Road To The Olympic Games on CBC, live streaming event coverage at cbcsports.ca and the CBC Sports app on iOS and Android, and the compelling, in-depth stories of the athlete’s journey on and off the field of play found on the CBC Sports website every week of the year. The network will offer more than 500 hours of coverage over the summer months and approximately 1,500 hours of winter sport coverage in the months ahead.

CBC Sports continues to shine a spotlight on Canada’s athletes through the acquisition of new properties that provide access to many sports and events that otherwise would not be available to Canadian audiences. One such acquisition is a four-year agreement with FINA that will ensure coverage of disciplines like swimming, diving, water polo and synchronized swimming – including the FINA Diving World Series in Montreal from April 27-29. In honour of CBC's past coverage of all aquatic sports, and its partnership with the four included sport federations, the national public broadcaster was formally awarded the 2018 Media of the Year award by Aquatics Canada. The award was also in appreciation for CBC's coverage of the 2017 FINA World Championships, giving Canadians an exclusive in-depth look at an internationally significant aquatics competition.

Some of the other championship events on the upcoming CBC Sports schedule include: the IAAF Diamond League Series from May 4 to August 31 in different cities around the world and the NACAC 2018 Track & Field Championships from August 10-12 in Toronto.
