Queer (Self) Portraits

About the Show

QUEER (SELF) PORTRAITS Inspired by the 10x10 Photography Project (10x3min), produced by Four Corners Productions Inc., is a series of short documentary portraits of 10 LGBTQ+ artists or supporters of the arts. Each piece consists of a conversation with the artist about how their queer identity informed their artistic practice, while also exploring how their artistic practice has impacted their LGBTQ+ identity.

Here’s the fun part: as viewers hear each subject’s response, they watch them finger-paint a self-portrait on glass. The act of finger-painting not only sets a playful tone to an otherwise heady topic but it also creates a mood of self-discovery and self-expression.
