Coroner

About the Show

Created for television by Morwyn Brebner (Saving Hope) and inspired by the best-selling series of books by M. R. Hall, CORONER (8x60) is a procedural drama about Jenny Cooper, a newly appointed coroner investigating suspicious deaths in the city of Toronto. Jenny is a woman of action driven by an intense desire for the truth. She’s recently widowed, which has unlocked a primal connection to death…tied to a secret in her past that is only now coming to the surface. And she has a teenage son whom she loves more than life itself. Jenny is anxious (clinically so!), brave, sexy, vulnerable, funny and determined. A coroner for our time.

With storylines based on high-stakes, real-life cases, we’ll see Jenny and her team face down death. Jenny speaks for the dead, even when it inconveniences the living, and strives to protect the living who are in peril or powerless.

A CBC original series, CORONER is produced by Back Alley Films and Muse Entertainment. Morwyn Brebner is creator, executive producer and showrunner, and Adrienne Mitchell (Durham County, Bellevue) is executive producer and lead director. Production will begin in Toronto summer 2018.
