Co-host of the weekday morning radio show on CBC Radio One, 89.3 FM / 990 AM in Winnipeg, Marcy Markusa has been with CBC since 2001. Bringing a persistent interview style to the show, she thrives on getting honest and straightforward answers for listeners.
Being in the middle of a crowd in the heart of a Winnipeg neighbourhood is one of Marcy's favourite settings for morning radio. She lends a voice to help tell many local stories. Topics have included everything from contentious city deals over issues like Olywest to the tension between cyclists and drivers in the quest to become a greener city.
Marcy also had the opportunity to follow Bomber fans to two Grey Cups, visited flooded out areas all over the province and recently won a Gabriel Award in 2012 for hosting a CBC Radio One special titled, Resolve.
Before joining CBC, Marcy hosted a television show called CityScape in Winnipeg. Prior to that, she was a radio reporter and show co-host for Golden West Broadcasting in Southern Manitoba.
Marcy is a local girl through and through with an old school Winnipeg North End mom and a big Ukrainian family. She loves baking, gardening, 80's tunes and the Boston Red Sox. She is also committed to fighting the stigma surrounding mental illness. She is married to the love of her life Jean-Paul and they live in Winnipeg with two small dogs that run the house.
