Kristina Groves
Analyst, Speed Skating | Sochi 2014

Kristina Groves is a three-time Olympian and four-time Olympic medallist in long track speed skating. She brings her experience and expertise to CBC/Radio-Canada's broadcast team for the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games as an analyst for coverage of speed skating. This is a familiar role for Groves with CBC, having been part of the network's broadcast team for speed skating events for the past two years.

Groves spent 13 of her 23 years in speed skating as a member of the Canadian National Team. She represented Canada at the 2002, 2006 and 2010 Winter Olympics. In 2006 she won two silver medals and in 2010 in Vancouver she captured a silver and bronze medal. In 2007-08, Groves won 18 World Cup medals on her the way to the first of three overall World Cup titles in the 1500 metre race, a World Allround Championship bronze medal and a historic five-medal performance at the World Single Distance Championships, including gold in the 3000 metre race. Her success continued in 2008-09, 

She won her second overall World Cup title in the 1500 metre race and produced a three-medal performance at the World Single Distance Championship and Olympic test event at the Richmond Olympic Oval.

Today Kristina is in graduate school completing a Masters degree in Sustainable Energy Development at the University of Calgary.
