Veteran goaltender Kevin Weekes brings a wealth of NHL experience to his fourth year as analyst on CBC'S HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA thanks to his playing career spanning 13 seasons. Weekes made his broadcasting debut as an analyst with the NHL Network's 'NHL on the Fly' during the 2008-09 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
The Toronto, Ontario native was selected 41st overall in the 1993 NHL Entry Draft by the Florida Panthers and began his professional hockey career with their affiliates, the Carolina Monarchs of the AHL and Fort Wayne Komets of the IHL. Weekes made his first NHL start in 1998 versus the Ottawa Senators and has since stopped pucks for the Vancouver Canucks, New York Islanders, Tampa Bay Lightning, Carolina Hurricanes, New York Rangers and the New Jersey Devils.
Weekes retired at the end of the 2008-09 season with more than 100 wins, a .903 save percentage and 2.88 goals against average over the course of in 348 games played. An avid supporter of youth charities, Weekes hosts a Celebrity Golf Tournament in Barbados each summer, donating the proceeds to Sky's the Limit and The Phoenix Academy.
