Helen Upperton
Analyst, Bobsleigh and Skeleton | Sochi 2014

Helen Upperton represented Canada at two Olympic Games as a pilot for the National Bobsleigh team, earning a silver medal at Vancouver 2010 with her teammate Shelley Ann Brown. She joins CBC/Radio-Canada's broadcast team for the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games as a bobsleigh and skeleton analyst.

Over the course of her 10-year bobsleigh career, Upperton accumulated more than 20 international World Cup medals and is considered a trailblazer in her sport, earning Canada's first-ever World Cup gold medal along with international start records and track records. She launched the Canadian women's program to status of "World Leading," finally matching the success that the national men's team had seen for decades.  

Helen was the host for a 13 part reality adventure series "Make it Happen" (Shaw TV) as well as calling races for international bobsleigh and skeleton federation for the last several years.

Helen retired from competition in 2012 and is currently the Manager of community relations at Win Sport in Calgary. She is also an active member of the Athlete Commission with the Canadian Olympic Committee.
