FALL INTO CBC RADIO 2 WITH AN EXCITING MUSIC PROGRAMMING LINEUP

Beginning September 7, CBC Radio 2 will continue to bring listeners a unique listening experience with returning favourites, two new shows and a brand new 7:00 pm weekday lineup 

CBC Radio 2 (@CBCRadio2) continues to bring a unique listening experience to Canadians with its fall programming kick-off starting on September 7, 2013. Featuring distinct genre-based blocks of programming throughout the day, knowledgeable hosts who inform and entertain, and a variety of music for every mood, CBC Radio 2 prides itself on providing its listeners with a deep musical experience. 

The new season will see the return of audience favourites including weekday shows Radio 2 Morning (@CBCR2Morning) hosted by Tom Power which features a deep blend of new and established artists from all musical genres and Radio 2 Drive (@CBCR2Drive) with Rich Terfry spinning a playlist of fresh adult alternative tracks. New programs this season include Backstage with Ben Heppner, hosted by Canada's own much-celebrated dramatic tenor Ben Heppner, who is also the new host of Saturday Afternoon At The Opera, and Q the Music which highlights the best musical performances and content from Radio One's daily arts, culture and entertainment magazine, Q, hosted by Jian Ghomeshi. 

Weekday evenings will feature a brand new 7 p.m. (7:30 p.m. NT) weekday line-up for listeners which will include:

Canada Live (Monday): New host, Garvia Bailey will feature performances by top Canadian roots, rock, indie, jazz and world musicians. Recorded in Canada's best concert halls, music festivals and clubs. @garviabaileyCBC

Q The Music (Tuesday): Q The Music is a new CBC Radio 2 show featuring the best musical performances and content from Q, hosted by Jian Ghomeshi. @CBCRadioQ/ @jianghomeshi

Inside the Music (Wednesday): Inside the Music explores the whys and wherefores behind the lives of some our finest musicians. Its regular feature My Playlist, showcases well known Canadian artists from a variety of musical genres sharing their favourite tracks, past and present, as well as documentary profiles of musical icons.

Deep Roots (Thursday): Hosted by Tom Power, Deep Roots plays the best music being made in this explosive genre, featuring great Canadian roots musicians as well as musicians from around the world. Listen in as traditional styles of music are woven together to create something new and exciting. @TomPowerCBC

Radio 2 Top 20 (Friday): Every Friday, host Pete Morey counts down the 20 hottest adult alternative tracks heard on Radio 2 Morning and Radio 2 Drive. You'll hear the latest Canadian and international songs making waves right now.  @CBCR2Top20

Other returning Radio 2 favourites include daytime classical music shows Shift (@cbcR2Shift) and Tempo (@CBCTempo), and evenings featuring jazz on Tonic and cutting-edge contemporary music on The Signal (@CBCTheSignal).  Radio 2 Morning with Molly Johnson kicks off the weekend programming followed by a diverse line-up of knowledgeable music hosts taking the listener on a musical journey by exploring a wide variety of music through storytelling and song including Vinyl CafĂ©, This Is My Music, In Tune (@CBCInTune), Saturday Afternoon At The Opera (@CBCR2opera), Backstage With Ben Heppner, Deep Roots, Saturday Night Blues, Choral Concert, In Concert (@CBCR2InConcert), Inside The Music, A Propos, Randy Bachman's Vinyl Tap and The Strombo Show (@strombo).
