CBC Calgary's Doug Dirks joins the CBC/Radio-Canada broadcast team for coverage of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, his second Olympic Games with the network. He lent his expertise to the network's coverage of Beijing 2008 and will provide play-by-play commentary for rowing, mountain bike and canoe/kayak sprint at Rio 2016.
Dirks has spent nearly a quarter of a century informing, and entertaining viewers and listeners in Calgary, southern Alberta, and across the country. He's currently the host of the Homestretch on CBC Radio One, and Our Calgary on CBC-TV. Over the years, he has also hosted the CBC TV Calgary News, anchored programs on CBC TV News Network, and works as a commentator for CBC Sports.
He is active in the community, hosting hundreds of events for local, regional, and national charities during his career.
Dirks is a graduate of McGill University, Mount Royal College, and Humber College.
