CBCMUSIC.CA FANS AND CBC RADIO ONE LISTENERS DECIDE THE TOP 24 NEW MUSIC ACTS NATIONALLY IN SEARCHLIGHT

National voting for the listener's choice competition for Canada's best new artist begins 


CBCMusic.ca and CBC Radio One are on the hunt for Canada's best new artist and have joined forces with Yamaha Canada Music Ltd. to present the all-new listeners' choice music competition, SEARCHLIGHT

Since the polls opened on February 18, thousands of emerging musical acts from across Canada have been vying for the title of Canada's Best New Artist. The winning act will receive $20,000 in gear from Yamaha Canada Music, a video session to be featured on CBCMusic.ca, and a spot on an upcoming music showcase in Toronto, including flight and accommodations.  

Twenty-four communities across the country have chosen their finalists by casting their votes at CBCMusic.ca/Searchlight. The top 24 contenders are:

The national voting has just opened on CBCMusic.ca and will include five rounds of voting.  Tune into CBC Radio One's Q each week as they reveal the remaining finalists for each round.  The winner will be announced on Q and CBCMusic.ca on April 12.
