Analyst, Cross Country | Sochi 2014
Three-time Olympian Beckie Scott has nearly two decades of competitive ski racing to draw on in her role as analyst for cross country coverage during the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games on CBC/Radio-Canada. She won gold at the 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake City and silver in Turin in 2006. Scott retired following the 2006 winter season as North America's most decorated cross-country skier and one of the world's best all-around cross-country ski racers. A trailblazer for Nordic sports in North America, Scott was the first North
American woman to win an Olympic medal in cross country skiing and also won 17 World Cup medals. In recognition of her numerous achievements, Scott has received the John Semmelink Memorial Award and the Spirit of Sport Story of the Year award at the Canadian Sport Awards. She is a member of Canada's Sports Hall of Fame, Canada's Ski Hall of Fame, and the Canadian Olympic Hall of Fame.
In 2006 Scott was elected to the International Olympic Committee for an eight-year term. She is a member of the World Anti-Doping Agency's Executive Committee, and was recently appointed Chair of the World Anti-doping Agency's Athlete Committee. She is a director and board member of the Canadian Olympic Committee and co-chairs Cross Country Canada's Womens' Committee.
