UL Warns of Counterfeit Pride Products Extension Cords

July 5, 2006

Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL) is notifying consumers that some extension cords have not been evaluated for safety by UL and bear a counterfeit UL Mark for the United States. These cords have undersized conductor wire.

The cord is green in color. The cord surface is marked:

"(UL) SPT-2 60C 16AWGA2C E187857 181710-001"

The cord has a counterfeit UL holographic label with the wording:

"E137398
CORD SET
ISSUE NO: BW-5833"

The packaging is marked with a counterfeit UL Mark and the following:

"PRIDE PRODUCTS CORP.
9ft. Household Extension Cord
13A-125V-1625 W
16/2 SPT-2"

UL recommends that people stop using these cord sets and return them to the place of purchase.
