July 5, 2006

Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL) is notifying consumers that several extension cords have not been evaluated for safety by UL and bear a counterfeit UL Mark for the United States. These cords have undersized conductor wire.

The cord is brown in color. The cord surface is marked:

"(UL) E156456 SPT-2 16AWGA2C 60C VW-1"

The cord has a counterfeit UL holographic label with the wording:

"E157848
CORD SET
ISSUE NO: BW-8764"

The packaging is marked with a counterfeit UL Mark and the following:

"POWTECH,
6ft. EXTENSION CORD

The cords were distribuated by PowTech. UL recommends that people stop using these cord sets and return them to the place of purchase.
