Pricing of Bayer products both in Canada and around the world is a reflection of local market dynamics, and varies from country to country. These dynamics are influenced by a variety of factors such as local economic conditions, cost of goods, differences in product formulation and local regulatory, packaging and distribution costs.
Bayer's Aspirin 81mg tablets are priced in line with this policy and a direct comparison of Canadian and US prices is not appropriate. Healthcare products often differ in Canada and the U.S., including formulations of Bayer's products, such as Aspirin 81mg. This in turn entails shorter production runs and higher overall costs of production. In addition, selling costs in Canada are typically higher than in the US and depend on a variety of factors, including costs associated with regulatory approval, manufacturing, transportation, distribution and marketing. Distribution costs, for example, are higher due to Canada's geographic size and population distribution, and marketing costs are higher due to the cost of reach.
These costs are all factors that help determine how Bayer sets its product price to retailers. Bayer regularly reviews this pricing policy to ensure that prices are fair and competitive, and adjusts them as appropriate.
