You may notice PC Just Peanuts brand peanut butter feels a bit lighter lately. No, it's not a new formula -- but a size reduction from 1kg to 750g. Check out the photo evidence:
Viewer Gregg Gleason sent Marketplace the photos above with a note: "I noticed this product's shrinkage right away! I was infuriated and refused to purchase it for months. (I finally broke down and bought some when my PB craving coincided with a rare sale.)"

My son first noticed this with a few products that ship mostly as a bag full of air (potato chips and the like). There is definitely deception involved as the bags and boxes they come in have not changed size and look identical (except for the weight label) while the contents merely contain less product and more air.
I would like to see a separate Marketplace investigation to see if any company can legitimately explain why they fill their bags with air. I know they claim it reduces breakage, but clearly there must be a better way.
How about the shrinkage in all paper products such as toilet paper and paper towels? "sales"yield rolls that are narrower and don't last as long as they used to and instead of using less more is necessary.
HI,
the one i've noticed the most is the size of chip bags. any brand and type. all lose 10-30 grams a year it seems like.
