On a trip in which I rented cars in Las Vegas, San Francisco and Vancouver. I didn't notice the extra charges for "energy recovery fee', etc. My gripes are with the way they pressure us to take extra insurance, and with the way they deal with pre-existing damage. Dollar in Las Vegas gave us an ultimatum - take this insurance or no car. Hertz in San Francisco tried the insurance line but didn't object when I declined, likewise with Budget in Vancouver. We got a hard time from Budget about a damaged wheel disc that I had pointed out to the Budget rep on the pre-drive inspection. He said "I got that ". When we returned the car they focused on this wheel disc and wouldn't listed to what I said. I was delayed in the terminal while we argued about this. Finally they checked their records and gave me an OK. A fellow renter said he thought they often charged several people for the same ding.
