Canadian Youth Delegation member Thea Whitman of Wolfville is seeing signs of tension increasing as the clock ticks down on COPE15

Things are warming up in Copenhagen and Canada can't seem to beat the heat.
First, it was Monday's series of fake media releases and a hoax press conference. Then it was the leak of a federal document in which it appears that Ottawa wants to backtrack on its own modest emission targets.
Whether fake or real, Canada seems to be getting all the wrong kind of attention.
Thea Whitman of Wolfville is a member of the Canadian Youth Delegation, representing Nova Scotia in Copenhagen. She was on MN last week, to discuss what the Delegation hoped to accomplish in concert with youths from all over the world who want to influence negotiators. Now that time's running out, ee checked in to get details on the growing urgency.

OK - it's not as dramatic as a Komodo Dragon.
But it's still a terrific find.
Two Maritime scientists have discovered a glowworm  - considered endangered in parts of Europe - thriving in a few Halifax cemeteries, of all places.
Christopher Majka is a biologist and research associate at the Nova Scotia Museum. He and Scott MacIvor, a graduate student in the Department of Biology at Saint Mary's University, published their discovery of the glowworm in the international journal Zootaxa.
Chris told us about the fascinating creature, what its discovery here suggests about its origins, why it's thriving and how it could interest other international naturalists.

Marjorie Willison is the author of The East Coast Gardener. She answered questions about plants - indoors and out - and had suggestions for gifts that might please the gardeners in your life.
