An historic municipal election campaign is shaping up in Pointe-à-la-Croix, Québec, a community linked by bridge with Campbellton,New Brunswick.
For the first time, members of the nearby Listuguj First Nation are eligible to vote and run as candidates. Alison Nothcott explained why that could lead to big changes in the neighbouring communities.
It's been 40 years since a medical team performed Atlantic Canada's first successful organ transplant. The success rate of those operations has been improving, but doctors say more donors are needed.
Last week, health care professionals, organ recipients and families of donors in the region's transplant community gathered in Halifax to share their stories. She spoke frankly about that bittersweet experience - grieving for her husband, but also knowing that his organ donation was extending the lives of others.
