Men and women are biologically and socially different. So why would we expect a "one size fits all" approach to health care to work ?
"One Size Does Not Fit All" was the title of a public lecture Dr Joy Johnson recently presented at the University of New Brunswick. She highlighted ways in which patients don't receive the medical attention that's specific to their sex or gender - something which can affect health outcomes.
Dr Johnson is the scientific director of the British Columbia-based Institute of Gender & Health - part of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research.
