This week on Maritime Magazine, the story of one man's musical legacy, and what it continues to mean to his family, and to a new generation of musicians.
Lauchie Gillis was known across Cape Breton - and as far away as Harvard University - as a man who sang the old songs, and helped keep the language of an ancient culture alive.
His grand-daughter, freelance broadcaster Norma Jean MacPhee never knew her "Papa." But she grew up on stories about his love of life, and the gaelic language.
When she received an e-mail from an acquaintance her own age, asking about Lauchie, she decided to find out more about him.
