Kosovars in the Maritimes (The Story of Nijazi and Meliha Muji)
On February the 17th, Kosovars in Canada and around the world watched the nation declare its independance.
Many of the people celebrating here in the Maritimes had arrived as refugees in 1999.
There were part of a massive humanitarian effort, as thousands of displaced ethnic Albanians were airlifted into the region.
Maritime Magazine's producer Christina Harnett spoke to some of the families who came here at that time, including Nijazi and Meliha Muji of Halifax.
