Robin Tomah survived a terrifying attack.  In August of 2001, she was sprayed with a liquid and set on fire, while her attackers held her down and watched her burn.  Tomah recounts what it was like to be in the middle of that assault on this week's edition of Maritime Magazine.

And she speculates on the possible motive for the attack.  Joanne Silliboy and her boyfriend Vincent Bezanson were convicted and sentenced to twelve years in prison.  This month, Silliboy, will appear before a parole board hearing to seek full release from her 12 year sentence.  But Tomah will petition the board to refuse that request.  "She should serve the full twelve years," says Tomah.

Tomah also talks about her long road to recovery.  The months of pain and treatment in hospital took their toll.  And after returning home, she slipped into a depression as she tried to regain her self-confidence.  But she received some help from an unexpected source - her twelve year old nephew.

Tomah says she is now happier than ever.  She has recently been promoted in her work with the Milbrook Band Council's Power Centre near Truro and she's reached a new understanding of how important her family is in her life.
